Sculpted By Aimee Beauty Base Review

Late nights, early mornings, the too many cups of coffee that accompany those, and a less than ideal diet are my downfalls when it comes to my skin. I'm a busy, often tired (aren't we all!) Mum of two who, if I'm honest, has not been practicing the most self care of late! Hence I'm always on the lookout for a product that claims to give me that "glow from within". So when I heard that the sold out Sculpted by Aimee Beauty Base had arrived back in stock, I was all over it and had to order one straight away.

If you haven't heard of Sculpted by Aimee, it is an award-winning makeup brand created by Aimee Connolly, one of Ireland's top makeup artists and a girlboss that I totally admire! She has just opened a new flagship studio, academy and retail store too on the Main Street in Dundrum, South Dublin where you can check out her products, have your makeup done or sign up for one of her renowned makeup courses.

So, what is the Beauty Base?

The Beauty Base is a 3 in 1, multipurpose product which acts as a makeup primer, a moisturiser and as sun protection. Hyaluronic Acid provides the hydration and it contains SPF30 too along with golden illuminating particles. So not only is it moisturising and protecting but it claims to leave the skin with a gorgeous golden glow.  The pump tube makes for quick and easy application and you get 50ml of product for a price of €24.99.

So how do you use it?

You can apply the Beauty Base on its own to the skin, without makeup, or you can apply it before foundation. You could also mix it into your foundation to give it a more glowy finish. I think it's also great used on the collarbones or d├ęcolletage if you're looking to add some shimmer to that area for a night out or special occasion. To apply, I recommend dabbing onto the face using your finger then blending it in with a buffer brush like the Blank Canvas F20 Brush or the Nima Kabuki Brush.

And what are my thoughts?

I'm in love with this product. My skin feels plumper and more hydrated and definitely looks more awake and glowy. I've been using it without makeup over it on school runs and also with makeup at the weekends or on the days that I have a bit more time. I will absolutely be buying another tube when this runs out for my own makeup bag. And I also plan to buy another to add to my freelance makeup kit as I can see this becoming a staple product for bridal makeup.

Would I recommend this product? Absolutely. It would in my opinion suit a variety of skin tones and types and if you like the effect of a strobing cream but want something that can be a little more subtle, is hydrating and protects your skin then this is the product for you!

In the photo below, I've applied the Beauty Base under some very simple daytime makeup - and very minimal eye makeup so apologies for that but I just wanted to give you some idea of how it looks!
