Glossybox UK July 2017 Review

Glossybox UK July 2017

Although you might be forgiven for thinking otherwise if you live in my part of the world, summer is here and Glossybox are following a summery theme for their July box with this very pretty coral and gold foil "Hello Summer" box. It's the first of their summer collectors' edition boxes, with the second installment coming to us next month, and it includes some summer problem solvers and travel-friendly beauty.

Glossybox UK July 2017

This month's box is a great mix of makeup, skincare and haircare and features a brand of makeup brushes which seems to be popping up all over my Instagram feed at the minute and to be the latest must-have brush brand amongst beauty bloggers. I'll start with this "must-have" and work my way through the rest!

Spectrum Collections Small Fan Brush.

Spectrum Collections Small Fan Brush

First of all, how girly is this brush?! This is one of Spectrum Collections' best sellers and can be used to apply powder highlighter or to apply setting powder. It feels soft as a feather and has a sturdy wooden handle in the prettiest pink shade. This will be going straight into my makeup brush jar to be tried out asap and I will let you know how I get on. This retails for £4.99 on

Bellapierre Cosmetics Banana Setting Powder.

Bellapierre Cosmetics Banana Setting Powder

Bellapierre Cosmetics is a brand that's not widely available here in Ireland as far as I'm aware. I have seen it occasionally in pharmacies or in TK Maxx but I have received some of their products in previous beauty boxes and I've been impressed with what I have tried. The Bellapierre Cosmetics Banana Setting Powder is a yellow-toned setting powder, to be used for baking your foundation or concealer, and is said to counteract redness, discolouration, spots and most importantly for me, dark circles. This is said to be a full size product although it does appear pretty small for the retail price of £25. I would imagine however that you don't need much product and that a little goes a long way. Keep an eye on my Instagram Stories over the coming days as this is going straight into my everyday makeup bag to be tested out!

Catrice Cosmetics Ultimate Colour Lipstick in the shade 002 Maroon.

Catrice Cosmetics Ultimate Colour Lipstick Maroon

Catrice Cosmetics are one of my favourite affordable makeup brands. In particular, I've been super impressed with one of their mascaras, their liquid concealer and a primer. (There will be a blog post coming soon focusing on my Catrice favourites so I'm not going to give away too much for now!)
This is a lovely reddish-brown shade, in a creamy finish. It's probably a little darker than my usual nudes and I tend to go for a matte finish at the moment. However, it easy enough to mattify a lipstick with a dusting of powder over the top - and seeing as I have a powder in this same box it will be easy enough to do!  Again keep an eye on my Instastories for updates soon. The RRP of this is €4.50.

Papanga Spiral Hairbands.

Papanga Spiral Hairbands

I've received similar hair bobbles to these in previous beauty boxes and they are a much gentler alternative to elastic hair bands. Papanga appears to be a German brand and these bands claim to hold hair in place without causing breakages or split ends. I'm afraid I have to say I've been a little disappointed with these types of bobbles in the past. They still tend to catch in my hair and the bright colours don't make them invisible in the hair. However, these ones do feel quite sturdy and stretchy - they remind me of a brightly coloured phone cord actually - so I will try them out but probably only on casual days as usually for work I like to make sure the bobbles or clips I use are as invisible as possible in the hair. These retail for £4.99 for the pack of 2.

Monu Spa First Defence Soothing After Sun.

Monu Spa First Defence Soothing After Sun

Monu Spa is a brand that has featured in Glossy Box before so I had an idea of what to expect with this and I wasn't disappointed. Monu Spa are a UK brand, focusing on professional skincare containing natural ingredients and essential oils while being cruelty free. This is an after sun lotion containing Aloe Vera, Shea Butter and Vitamin E to soothe and moisturise the skin after sun exposure. It contains Bergamot, Grapefruit, Rosewood and Lemongrass extracts so it smells citrussy without being overpowering. I sadly don't have a holiday on the agenda at the moment, but if we do get a sunny spell here I will be slathering this on. If all else fails, it will still make a lovely body pampering body lotion regardless. The full size (180ml) bottle of this retails for £19.95 and this is a 100ml tube so you are getting a generous amount of product for a beauty box item.

So that's everything I received in the "Hello Summer" July Edition Glossy Box. Overall I'm very happy with the box contents - especially the makeup items. If you are heading off on your summer holidays or for a trip to the seaside closer to home, then this box will definitely give you some holiday vibes with the bright colours and the summery packaging and the after sun is definitely a summer essential. The box is also great value as most of the products this month are full-sized, which doesn't always happen with other brands of beauty boxes! If you received a Glossy Box this month, I'm curious to know was yours the same or did you have some different surprises?
