March 2017 Favourites

March 2017 Favourites

It's been a while since I wrote a monthly favourites post so I thought now would be as good a time as any. March was a busy month in the Mamavoom household - and with Little Man turning 3, other family birthdays and Mothers Day too it's been a little bit of a spendy one too! I've been trying really hard to curb my spending - at least apart from the Irish Beauty Show - and instead I had a good rummage through my stash to find some new products to try out. It had also been my birthday in February so one or two of my birthday gifts were put to good use this month too. So let's get on with it!

Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter Body Butter.

Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter

This body butter containing Shea Butter and Aloe Vera is one of Soap & Glory's hero products and has even won beauty awards in the past! It is a rich, intensive moisturiser without being at all greasy on the skin and it has their signature Pink fragrance. I came across this when I bought the Boots Christmas Star Gift - the Soap & Glory Whole Glam Lot - and I'm so impressed with this that I will be upset to finish it! Mind you that will take a while as this is a generous 300ml tub. Soap & Glory regularly run special offers and gift set offers in Boots so keep an eye out for promotions. Even at full price though however, this will only set you back €15.00. In fact, at the time of writing this post, there is a 3 for 2 offer on this range in Boots so you might be in luck! A little of this goes a long way so the tub will last absolutely ages. It's just gorgeous and if you want to pamper yourself but without spending a fortune, Soap & Glory is definitely the way to go. I also noticed a travel sized tub of this for €3.00 in my local Boots if you wanted to test it out before splashing out on the full-sized one.

Chanel Allure Eau De Parfum.

Do you have that one fragrance that you could quite happily wear for the rest of your life and never
buy a bottle of anything else? Well, for me, this fragrance from Chanel is it. I fell in love with it in my college years - and treated myself to my first bottle from the Duty Free on a girls holiday to the Canaries. Every time I smell it, it takes me back to those holidays, which is a small part of the appeal
I suppose, but the fragrance itself is just so beautiful. It's incredibly difficult to describe - for me at least - but it is oriental, fruity and floral at the same time without being overpowering at all. It's a younger fragrance in my opinion than No.5 and not as sweet as Coco Mademoiselle or Chance. Mr. Mamavoom bought me a bottle of this for my birthday and although normally I would be the type to save the good stuff for special occasions, I've decided I'm not going to do that anymore and I'm just going to wear it when I feel like it! If you haven't tested it out, head to your local department store and have a sniff and you will see what I mean by how indescribable yet beautiful it is! It is available in most department stores and in Boots also.

I Heart Makeup Bronze & Glow Palette.

I Heart Makeup Bronz and Glow palette

If you follow me on Instagram you'll be sick to the teeth of me talking about this palette, but I couldn't not include it here! If you read my recent Makeup Revolution Haul blog post you will have seen it there too. It's a simple palette, with a bronzer and a pale slightly gold-toned highlighter to contour or bronze and highlight the face.

I Heart Makeup Bronze and Glow palette

As I am very pale skinned, this shade doesn't really work for me as a contour shade - grey-toned bronzers tend to suit pale skin better ladies - but I use a little of this on the cheeks, often instead of blusher, to add a bit of colour and definition to the face and warm me up a little. I then apply the highlighter to the tops of the cheekbones, under the brow bone and in the inner corners of the eyes and that's pretty much it. It's a palette I reach for nearly every day since having bought it.
It's so easy to just pick up when you're in a hurry and don't have time for fancy face shaping! And it doesn't hurt that it has the prettiest gold and chocolate bar design packaging that makes it feel so much more luxurious than it is. You can find I Heart Makeup online at, in Superdrug stores and in selected pharmacies nationwide and I paid €8.40 for it on the Tam Beauty website.

Mac Eye Kohl Eyeliner in Costa Riche.

Sometimes black kohl eyeliner can be a little harsh, especially for a daytime look, and this reddish brown shade is perfect for those days. This was one of the items in the Look In A Box set that I picked up a little while ago from Brown Thomas. (It's out of stock online here at the moment but I'll leave the link anyway here in case you would like to check it out in store or in case it returns online).
I will do another blog post on the set itself but I've been loving this liner in particular. If you haven't tried a brown liner, pick one up and give it a try - especially if you have blue eyes as I think you might be surprised at the results!

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick.

Stila Stay All Day liquid lipsticks

These have been in my makeup collection for a while now and they are the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks which I picked up in the January sales from Arnotts. They formed a set called Naturally Nudes which contained three mini-sized liquid lipsticks which are said to be universally flattering but I believe that they are all sold individually too. From top to bottom, the shades are:
-Patina - a dusty rose pink.
-Serenata - which Stila call a "cognac rose" shade and it's a more brownish-pink.
-Perla - a limited edition pale dusty pink with cool undertones and my favourite out of the 3. I've been reaching for this particular shade the most for a day to day look as it's just a subtle colour but still beautiful. I hate to use the overused phrase but it really is "your lips but better". These Stila ones are some of the best liquid lipsticks I've tried - they dry fully matte but without drying out the lips and although I drink a LOT of coffee throughout the day, they do tend to make it to lunch time without needing touch ups and they wear off evenly without crumbling or flaking away. Stila is available from Cult Beauty, Feel Unique, Asos and now Marks and Spencers and the full-sized individual lipsticks will set you back around €22. As far as I'm aware, this set of minis is no longer available.

Essence Lash Princess Mascara.

If you saw my recent "What's In My Makeup Bag" post, then you'll already be aware of how fond I am of this mascara. It is truly underrated in the beauty community. For me, it really does give that falsh lash effect without being clumpy or flaking off during the day. I've had people commenting on my lashes since using this - something which rarely happened before. The wand is nothing fancy but sometimes I think it's best not to over-complicate things! At around €4 it is definitely worth checking out and I will absolutely be repurchasing this again.

So that's everything I wanted to tell you about for now - I hope you found it interesting! If any of these products are on your own hits or misses lists let me know :)

Bye for now,
