UltraPure Laboratories Rosehip Oil and Rosewater Review

Ultra Pure Rosehip Oil and Rosewater Toner

Often at this time of the year, our skincare regime needs a bit of a change-up. The cold weather combined with always-on central heating can leave skin feeling dry or worse for wear and it needs extra moisture to combat the elements. So when I was asked recently as part of a collaboration with the Irish Blogger Agency if I would like to try out some new skincare products from Ultra Pure I thought that now was a great time to test them out! And one of my 2017 resolutions is to take better care of my skin too so now is a great time to create those better habits and give my skin some extra tlc.
Ultra Pure Laboratories are a family-owned company in the West of Ireland whose mission is to create pure natural skincare products with the highest quality ingredients to nourish, soothe and protect the skin. In addition to skincare, they also create essential oils and specialist skincare/pharmacy products.  I chose two products that I knew would suit my skin type and that I felt would be age appropriate, and one of them is a new addition to their product range which I was excited to try out. So, onto the products and my thoughts on them so far!

Rosewater Toner.

Ultra Pure Rosewater Toner

This is a lightly fragranced clear liquid which can be used as a gentle cleanser, makeup remover or toner. When I did some research, I found that rosewater can be used on all skin types – as a cleanser on normal skin, a balancing toner on oily skin and is also gentle enough to be used on sensitive skin. It is alcohol free too so it won't dry the skin out like some toners can. I have been using this as a toner after my two steps of makeup removal and cleansing. Toners are making a bit of a “comeback” in the last year or so and in my opinion they are great at removing traces of cleanser from the skin that you might not be able to rinse away or wipe off and as such can clog up your pores. This has been leaving my skin feel nice and refreshed after cleansing without leaving it feeling try or tight like some toners can. The delicate rose fragrance appeals to me also as sometimes toners can have a very “synthetic” scent. I believe that rosewater can also be used as an aftershave but I won’t be letting Mr. Mamavoom get his hands on it!

Certified Organic Rosehip Oil.

Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil

I’ve been seeing Rosehip Oil feature a lot online recently among fellow beauty bloggers and genuinely wanted to try it out. Rosehip Oil has several benefits for the skin:

- Rehydrate dry or damaged skin.
- Smooth fine lines and acne scarring.
- Minimise stretch marks and scarring on the skin elsewhere on the body.
- Used to help heal burns and sunburn.
- Treatment of eczema and psoriasis.
- Treatment of dry hair/scalp.

Ultra Pure Certified Organic Rosehip Oil

The oil is made by cold-press extraction methods which separates the oil from the hips and seeds. For my own purposes, I have been using this at night time after cleansing but you could use it morning and evening if you wish. I apply 2 or 3 drops to the face and neck and allow to sink in before my night cream. You can also use it instead of your moisturiser if you feel that the two together would be too much. On the occasions that I do use this, my skin definitely feels much softer and smoother the following morning. I’m reaching that age where I have to take more care of the skin on my neck as well as my face and this oil is great for providing a smoothing effect. The bottle comes with a dropper like homeopathic tincture bottles so it helps avoid pouring out too much product and wasting it. You only need a couple of drops at a time so I feel like this will last absolutely ages.

So would I recommend this? Absolutely. If you have skin that’s on the dry side like mine or on the more mature side (also like mine) then this is definitely worth a try. It is never too early to start your anti-ageing skincare either in my opinion.

If you are looking for a gentle toner with natural ingredients then the Rosewater is a great option. They do also offer toners containing Witch Hazel or Glycerine in combination with Rosewater but you can find full details of their product range on their website You can also find out more about their range on their Facebook page which you can find here. Ultra Pure products are available from pharmacies nationwide.

Have you tried either of these products or anything else from the Ultra Pure range? If so I'd love to hear your thoughts!
