September 2016 Glossybox UK Review

I'm a little bit late with this post this time around due to holidays and the catching-up afterwards but I did want to give you a quick rundown of the box anyway so hopefully you don't mind the lateness :)

If you're not familiar with the Glossybox concept already, it's a monthly subscription box where you receive a selection of 5 beauty treats from makeup to skincare to haircare or beauty accessories. Some of the products will be full-sized and some will be travel-sized or "deluxe samples" as they're also called. I have a month to month subscription which means I can cancel at any time if I choose and this costs me €14.00 a month. You have other options of 3,6 or 12 month  subscriptions which can save you a little bit of money but does tie you in for longer. I like the flexibility of the monthly plan and knowing that I can put a stop on it if I choose to.
The September box is a collaboration with Red magazine and the products included were chosen to introduce new skincare into our Autumn routines and to help achieve that ever-popular smokey eye. And of course the box itself was red to match its collaborator's colours!

So, onto what was in the box!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.

This is said to be a formula with added collagen to help thicken and lengthen lashes and coats are said to be buildable for a more intense finish. Mine is the waterproof version but some subscribers also received the non-waterproof one instead.

If you follow me on Instagram you will know that I was rather eager to try this! I couldn't wait until I'd posted this unboxing and review so I've been using it the past couple of weeks and I'm impressed! The waterproof version stays put all day and it contains porcelain flower extract and omega oil for lash conditioning. It's now at the top of my mascara league along with Benefit's Bad Gal Lash and Maybelline's Lash Sensational and I would most certainly repurchase. This is a travel-sized version and the full size costs £19.

Vitamasques Hydro Face Mask.

Sheet masks are very popular at the moment and this one is said to have a huge dose of hydrating ingredients to keep your skin moisturised for up to 120 hours! It's a gel mask as opposed to a cotton one and is meant to hold more moisture and stick to the face easier than the cotton ones. I haven't tried anything from this brand before but I will definitely give this a try. These types of masks are great for a quick skin pick-me-up during the week and I usually like to use one of these mid week and a clay mask at the weekend.  The RRP of this is £7.99 which is quite pricey for a single use mask.

Rodial Smokey Eye Pen.

This is a black kohl eyeliner which is said to have a gel texture and to be highly pigmented. This is probably the product I'm least excited about as I have tons of black eyeliners, most of which were in past Glossyboxes, so I don't really need another one. It will go into the beauty drawer and be used eventually or perhaps I will include it in a competition prize at some point!
The RRP of this is £17 according to the enclosed leaflet.

Catrice Volumising Lip Booster.

This is a lip gloss which promises to help you achieve a plumper pout. It contains menthol to volumise lips and give that tingly feeling and also almond and jojoba oils to moisturise. The one I received is in a nude pink shade which is the perfect colour choice for me but I believe others did receive different shades. I have it on my lips right now and I can definitely feel the tingly, cooling sensation. Once it goes on the lips it's almost clear with just a hint of colour and it doesn't feel sticky like some glosses can. I'm not a huge lip gloss wearer but this would be a good one for just a quick sweep over the lips when you're in a hurry. You could also layer it over lipstick for a bit of shine. I'm not convinced that my lips look any fuller though!
The RRP of this one is €3.95..

The Organic Pharmacy Antioxidant Lip Balm.

Another lip product and this time a rich lip balm with shea butter, pomegranate, rose hip and Vitamin E to protect and restore the lips. It comes in a squeezy tube and applies like one of the Lancome Juicy Tubes so it's easy to apply on the go. Coming into the colder weather, we all need to make more of an effort to stop the lips drying out so this will be going into the handbag.
First impressions are that it has a nice, non-greasy feel on the lips and the subtle scent reminds me of products from the Caudalie range which is one of my favourite brands.

There was a bonus sample in the box which was unexpected and that was a sample sachet of one of the new Body Shop face masks. These are selling like hot cakes at the moment, and while I haven't gotten my hands on one yet as they are sold out currently, I'm really looking forward to trying out this sample!

The one I received is the Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask to detox the skin. I've never tried a mask containing charcoal so we shall see how this one works out. It's always nice to receive an extra little item, even if it is only a sachet, so thanks Glossybox!

That's everything I received this month and my initial thoughts on the products. If you are also a subscriber I'd love to hear if your box was the same or different, and what you thought of it? Your comments are welcome as always! :)

Bye for now,
