Makeup Revolution Golden Sugar Ultra Blush Palette Review

Makeup Revolution Golden Sugar Ultra Blush Palette

I am a little bit late to the Makeup Revolution party. I have had my eye on a few bits from the range for a while now as I wanted to see if they lived up to the bloggers and youtubers' hype.
If you haven't heard of them, Makeup Revolution are a UK makeup brand, only launched in 2014. They claim to deliver professional, quality products at affordable products. They launch a lot of new products from the latest trends and lots of limited editions so it's actually hard to keep up. They also have a lot of products in the range that are "inspired by" much more high-end, pricier brands like Too Faced, Hourglass, Lorac, Urban Decay and Mac.

They are sadly not readily available in stores on this lovely island of ours. In the UK they are sold exclusively in Superdrug and I only know of two Superdrug stores in Dublin - at the Square, Tallaght and Omni Park, Santry. I believe there is one in Limerick City too but I think that's it for us unless you are heading up North. However , they do deliver internationally via their own website and I have a few items ordered from there including what looks to be a really pretty lipstick so hopefully I won't be disappointed.

Yesterday on a quick trip to the Square I popped into Superdrug on the off chance that there might be a couple of items there that I was interested in as I wanted to see and swatch them in "real life", It's fair to say the stand was fairly empty and it is obvious what their bestsellers are! They do have a much better selection available online and also another "sister brand" of theirs called I Heart Makeup which was not available in the Square at any rate.

Makeup Revolution Golden Sugar Ultra Blush Palette

Anyway, I was immediately drawn in by the name of this at first - it is the "Golden Sugar" Ultra Professional Blush Palette. The palette contains 8 shades - 4 shimmers,1 pearly gold highlighter, 2 metallic shades and one matte shade. The shades range from the pearly gold to a light bronze with some dusky pinky gold shades in between. They are all quite subtle and are more like highlighters or blush toppers as opposed to really vivid blushers which I like as I am rather pale. They would also make great eyeshadows in my opinion.

Overall my first impressions of this are good - I will update you as to its staying power when I've worn it for a full day. This palette costs a tidy €7.75 which is great value for 8 shades. They are not the largest pans but I don't think I will use too much of these at a time as they are quite shimmery. I'm hoping they will give a nice subtle glow and I'll update you on Mamavoom's Facebook page after a full day's wear. If you are looking for strong, pigmented blushers then this palette won't be for you - it's much more of a shimmery, blush topper sort of palette.

Here are swatches of each of the shades - I'm in love with numbers 2 and 6 already. I will be doing a haul and first impressions post when my online order arrives and by then I will have more of an idea of the quality and pigmentation of their stuff.

  1. I haven't tried anything from Makeup Revolution but this one looks so cute. I love the light shades and the shimmer.

    1. This was the first item I tried from the range and they are lovely subtle shades. I will be reviewing one of their eyeshadow palettes soon but I'm impressed with that so far too! Their products are such good value as well :)
