Birchbox UK June 2016 Review

Birchbox UK June 2016 Paradise Found

Palm trees, Pineapples and Paradise is the theme for Birch Box this month. Looking out the window right now, I'm no where near paradise or palm trees but a girl can dream!

The box itself has a different design too, almost like a little keepsake box with a drawer, in blue and yellow with a palm tree print on it. Three skincare items, one makeup item and one hair item were inside this month..

Cynthia Rowley Brightening Illuminator.

Cynthia Rowley Brightening Illuminator

This is a teeny tube of a liquid highlighter which is said to deliver a subtle sheen to instantly brighten all skintones. It looks like the full size product comes in a pen-style container like YSL's Touche /Éclat. It is rather shimmery so I would probably try mixing this in with foundaiton to give a bit of an all over glow instead of using as a highlighter. Due to the size, it will come in handy for the travel makeup bag. I'm not "wowed" by it, but it won't go to waste anyway.

Absolute Le Nettoyant Purété Cleansing Gel.

Absolution Le Nettoyant Purete

This is a gentle gel cleanser containing natural ingredients like chamomile, white willow and oats.
It smells lovely, like some aromatherapy products and I do always like to try out new cleansers and not having heard of this brand, I'm looking forward to trying this out.

Ainy Pure Lumiere Face Scrub.

Ainy Purifying Radiance Facial Scrub

Is it just me or do face scrubs seem to be making a regular appearance these days in beauty boxes?
I now have tons of these little tubes in my stash and won't probably get through them all for ages!
This is not Ainy's fault I know, and this is said to be a gentle face scrub which turns into a milk on contact with water. I just tested this on the back of my hand and yes it is quite gentle and doesn't contain too many "scrubby bits" as I like to call them. And yes, it did change into a milk when I added water so this is interesting.

Monu Relaxing Bali Body Oil.

Monu Bali Relaxing Body Oil

According to my little product card, I was meant to have a body cream this month but they must have run out of stock as instead I received a little bottle of body oil. This brand makes a regular appearance in Glossybox too and I think I already have 2 or 3 bottles of their body oil which I haven't tried out yet. I have held back from trying them due to the amount of time these take to soak into the skin and I tend to need to shower and dress in a hurry. Perhaps after the baths which I get to have every so often, I should slick one of these on. They would also be lovely to use on holiday skin to keep the moisture in after sun exposure. This one does smell yummy so I'm going to leave it beside the bath in an effort to remember to use it.

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle Leave-in Conditioner.

Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle Leave-in Conditioner

I received a leave-in conditioner from Birchbox last month so this isn't the most exciting for me. This claims to be a wonder product to detangle, de-frizz, add shine, protect against heat and protect coloured hair. I did receive a body lotion from Beauty Protector in a past box and that was lovely and this smells slightly similar to that - like marshmallows, candyfloss and vanilla. This would be great for holiday time and it's a handy travel-size so it will be put into the stash for later on in the summer!

Overall, I have mixed feelings about this month's box. They all seem to be nice quality products but they aren't ground breaking discoveries for me and I've received a lot of similar products from subscription boxes in the past. There's nothing I "hate" and I will give everything a try so we shall see. Hopefully next month will have more of a "wow" factor!..
