April 2016 Glossybox UK

Hey all,
Hope you're doing well :) I'm back again with another subscription box review for April, and this time it's Glossybox's turn. This month's theme was "Spring Preening" - with a selection of products to "refresh your beauty regime".  So, what I did I receive and do I think I will be refreshing my beauty regime? Here's what was in my box:

Essence Mosaic Compact bronzing powder:

There are five different colours, both light and dark, in this powder, which when swirled together on your brush are said to leave you with a beautiful sunkissed glow. Mine is in the shade 01-Sunkissed Beauty and I actually think that since I am quite fair-skinned, this might suit me quite well and it looks quite subtle. I don't know how long-lasting it will be but I will give it a try and see. To me it also has a slight coconutty scent which reminds me of suncream and sunshine and holidays...sigh...
It retails at £3 in the UK so it would probably be approximately €4-5 here in Ireland but I haven't seen it in Penneys or pharmacies yet to confirm that.

Swiss Smile Whitening Toothpaste:

This one seems a little out of place in the box to me this month. It is said to be a "luxe" toothpaste which can be used every day to give you a super sparkling smile. Fair enough Glossybox but I think that even though this toothpaste costs £29 you will need to do a little better to impress me. I always purchase one particular toothpaste - well two if you count the kiddies one!- and it costs significantly less than this. It's always handy to have spare toothpaste so it will get used - but I don't think I could justify repurchasing at this price unless it gave me the most dazzling teeth ever!

The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil.

This is said to be a lightweight facial oil with a blend of three restorative oils to totally revive your complexion. (Let's face it I could do with a complete revival some days!. I haven't used this on my face yet but I did put a couple of drops on the back of my hand and it smells lovely and doesn't feel as greasy as some of the facial oils so I look forward to trying this out.

Studio 10 Brow Lift Perfecting Liner.

This is a double ended brow pencil with a brown shade on one end and a nude highlighting shade at the other end. I'm not overwhelmed by this one either. The brown shade is okay but the highlighter colour is more like a dark concealer colour and I don't think it is bright enough to really highlight under the brow bone. (Personally, I use the lightest shade in the Naked Basics palette as the highlight for under my brows and it has always done the job perfectly for me).  I will give it a chance but I'm not immediately excited (Sorry, Glossybox!).

Bandi Intensive Moisturising Cream.

This is a facial moisturiser containing hyaluronic acid, vitamins A, D and E which is said to boost hydration, soothe and firm the skin. I'm a little on the fence about this one so far. I haven't heard of this brand Bandi before and this cream is meant to be suitable for normal, combination or oily skin and mine would tend towards the "dry"side. I will test it out and if it's not for me, I'll pass it onto someone else who may be more suited to it.

I don't think this was the best Glossybox this month - I am interested in trying two of the products out of the five - the bronzer and the facial oil, and one will probably be used out of necessity more than curiosity (the toothpaste). The other two may or may not be suited to me and I'm not in a massive hurry to try them out. I am considering ending my "relationship" with Glossybox now that I have also signed up for Birchbox but I will give Glossybox another couple of months and redeem all of my Glossydots before making the final decision. (These are the kind of life-altering decisions I have to make haha!).

Have you signed up for either of these beauty boxes either now or in the past and what did you think of them?I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below :)

Bye for now,
C xx
