April 2016 Birchbox UK Review!

As I mentioned last month, Birchbox have recently started shipping to Ireland and I signed up for a month-by-month subscription in early March. The April box arrived last week and I have been dying to dig into the contents but I had to restrain myself so that I could show you guys what was in it and give you my first impressions of the contents before diving in!

This month's super pretty box is designed by the US stationery company, Rifle Paper Co. and is themed "Blooming Marvellous". Birchbox gave subscribers the choice of two different floral design boxes in an email late in March and I chose the pink version. There was also an option to "upgrade" your box and pay extra to add in two notebooks from Rifle Paper Co. but I have enough notebooks to start my own Easons store so I chose not to avail of these! Another "sneak peak" was given and that was that all boxes would contain one of a selection of Benefit make up products. So, onto the items that I received!

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse.

I haven't tried many products from the Nuxe range - a face mask from a Glossybox is the only item I've used- but I've heard great things about this dry oil. Firstly, it smells amazing - not like some of the face and body oils out there which often just smell like almond oil or a generic massage oil type scent. It's a multipurpose oil that you can use on your face, body or hair and contains a blend of six essential oils and Vitamin E. Day to day I don't have much use for body oils - I don't have the time or patience to let them rub in - but I will try out a couple of drops on the ends of my hair and I think it would be lovely on the face after a face mask.

Benefit Badgal Lash Mascara in Black.

I have tried this mascara before and I actually really like it. The 40g size makes this really convenient for travelling for for putting in your on the go make up bag. This mascara has a decent sized brush, which I like, and adds volume without being clumpy. In fact I find this a much nicer mascara than their famed "They're Real" one which left me with really clumpy lashes but that's just my opinion! "They're Real" is also so long lasting that it is very difficult to remove at the end of the day and I''m far too lazy for that! Since we are meant to change our mascaras every three months, I will probably get around to using this soon.

Cynthia Rowley Beauty Eyeliner in Black.

This eyeliner is also mini sized and will be great for carrying around in the handbag or when travelling. This is a Birchbox exclusive, and the information booklet claims that it is smudge proof and long lasting. I will give this a go soon and see if the claims are true. I'm generally not a massive kohl/eyeliner pencil user as I generally stick to liquid eyeliner but I'm open to trying something new to see if it will last all day without smudging..

Kueshi Foot Care Cream.

Around this time of the year, everyone starts prepping their feet for the summer sandals and the flip flops as they've been buried under socks and tights for the last 6 months. This cream contains sweet almond oil, tea tree and royal jelly to soothe and soften. I've tried this quickly already and it absorbs easily into the skin and doesn't leave it feeling greasy. You can definitely smell the tea tree which is nice for a change as a lot of foot creams have a minty fragrance. It is also quite cooling on the feet which will be nice for the summer months.

Parlour by Jeff Chastain Detangling Leave-In Conditioner.

This leave-in conditioner contains sweet almond extract and vitamin B5 and is said to help remove tangles, leave hair sleek and shiny and provide heat protection at the same time. I must confess I don't always condition my hair when I wash it (shame on me!) as I don't always have time so on these occasions I apply a leave-in conditioner instead. So I will definitely get some use out of this as well.

All in all, Birchbox have impressed me again this month- one cult beauty product that I've never tried, another cult product that I have tried but actually like, and three new brand discoveries. There was also a discount card for 25% off on products from Rifle Paper Co. I have restrained myself from looking at that website yet as I have a bit of a stationery problem and I know I shouldn't be let loose on there!

Have you ever tried Birchbox? If so I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Bye for now,
C xx
